Watching Joanie's pink sneakers travel through Italy, I am reminded of a series of photos logging the trip of the Dana Scudders through Europe about sixty years back. It was the era of white and brown saddle shoes…and the Dana Scudders only wore the brightest whitest saddle shoes. They shone like spotlights within photos of aqueducts, amphitheaters, market stands, and seascapes. So heres to a grand tradition…and to Joanies sneakers! Love you.
